Low accessibility

Barriers

  • Difficult to reach location: while it’s still located close to central Copenhagen there is only one bus that will take you close and it is still quite far from the entrance. You have to walk quite a distance through gravel, broken concrete and uneven pavement to arrive at the building’s entrance, and this is not something that I can do.
  • Certain works or installations can be inaccessible by wheelchair. This includes a current major exhibition, demonstrating that access to all works is not prioritized.
  • Unable to book wheelchair or mobility aids in advance: I risk showing up and having to wait an uncertain amount of time for a wheelchair to become available.
  • Lack of online alternatives to conferences and events: Providing an alternative to in person events, such as special exhibition materials, online guided tours, social events etc.. would allow me to get a real benefit from this public institution when I am in too much pain or do not have the ability to leave my home.

Measures

  • Building is fully accessible
  • Wheelchairs are available to loan free of charge
  • Honors handicap assistance programme: I could in theory bring a helper on my visit free of charge if I could enter the museum in the first place.
  • Able to be quickly contacted by phone if I have any specific accessibility questions.
